Bulgarian telecommunications spend to grow
Telecommunications spend in Bulgaria is unlikely to go down because of the credit crunch, a new study suggests.
Research by IDC has found a number of industries will buy less IT because of the downturn, including financial services, manufacturing and real estate.
However, telecommunications will not be one of the sectors hit in this fashion, as initiatives currently in progress will continue and help drive outlay of this type in the next one to three years.
While IDC predicts a number of Bulgarian projects will be cut, it still predicts the country's ICT market will expand at a rate of 25 per cent.
Research analyst for the country's division of the firm Evelin Stoev says: "Industries such as telecommunications, retail and utilities are less likely to slow down unless the economic crisis intensifies."
The firm recently predicted global IT spending would expand by 2.6 per cent next year, with areas including central and eastern Europe growing at a higher rate.
