Disaster recovery for virtualisation launches
A disaster recovery service has been launched which will allow material lost on machines which have undergone virtualisation to be recovered, a source reveals.
Plan B DR will be running the IT solution, which deploys snapshotting technology that allows it to record copies of systems in operation, SCMagazineUK.com reports.
This allows replications of virtual computers to be made and stored, so in the case of disruption services can be restored almost immediately.
Operations director at the firm Tim Dunger tells the news provider effective IT disaster recovery precautions have been extremely expensive and a restriction on the companies which implement them.
He says: "We re-thought the processes and procedures
and saw virtualisation technology as the catalyst for change as it breaks the link between a system's software layer and the costly hardware it runs on."
Last month, the Chester Chronicle reported Frodsham town council has implemented disaster recovery plans which left it prepared in case of terrorist attack, plane crash or fire at its facilities.
