Enterprises 'demand more bandwidth'
Organisations increasingly demand greater bandwidth with the introduction of new technologies, it has been claimed.
According to Simon Crosby, chief technology officer at enterprise software company Citrix, the emergence of bandwidth-intensive applications and the continued adoption of virtualisation by IT managers require architecture able to increase network speeds and reduce latency between virtual machines and server adapters.
Bruce Tolley, vice president of marketing at IT services provider Solarflare, added: "Enterprises and data centres are facing increasing demands with more users and transactions, advanced bandwidth-hungry applications and pressure to continuously reduce energy cost and waste."
The company went on to say high-performing solutions are essential in the mainstream emergence of power-efficient and cost-effective networking.
Earlier this week, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported organisations can increase bandwidth and potentially push their businesses into the cloud by making use of multi-protocol label switching.
Chief executive of Claris Networks Paul Sponcia told the news provider private, non-internet connections are preferable for fast internet connections.
