Internet access speeds decrease by nearly 10% in 3 months
The average internet access speed in the UK has been decreasing, new research suggests.
Statistics produced by analyst broadband.co.uk reveal the high-water figure in July of this year - 3.6Mbps - has fallen every month since this point.
At present, the average is nearly ten per cent lower, with internet access speeds currently reaching 3.3Mbps.
Spokesperson from the company Edd Dawson describes the results as unsurprising, suggesting bandwidth requirements - which are highest in the evenings - correspond with the slowest periods.
"We suspect that the increase use of media streaming services such as BBC iPlayer are a significant factor in these results," he claims.
The figures have been calculated through broadband speed tests conducted on the organisation's website during October.
According to PublicTechnology.com, consultancy Mott MacDonald has found 87 per cent of Scots want high bandwidth internet access when next-generation networks are unrolled in the area.
