P330 release 'supports 48 10 gigabit ethernet ports'

Fri 14-Nov-2008

Networking provider Dune Network has announced the release of a new line card which can sustain up to 48 10 gigabit ethernet ports.

Targeted at the data centre, the system design includes non-blocking fabric, a 100ms packet puffer and densities of 768 ports.

Senior editor at the Linley Group Jag Bolaria describes the product as positioning Dune Networks among the high-end of data centre switching producers.

Chief technical officer at the firm Ofer Iny claims the device was specifically designed with carrier access and data centres in mind.

"The P330's buffering capabilities guarantee ideal goodput and fairness for TCP traffic under any load, while its low latency and active congestion management insures best in class performance," he states.

Earlier in the week, NetLogic Microsystems announced it has developed the first 100 gigabit ethernet physical layer solution.

It is also targeted at data centres, along with next-generation carriers and access networks.ADNFCR-1505-ID-18877940-ADNFCR
