Smallest Linux device server contains ethernet connectivity

Wed 12-Nov-2008

The smallest mainstream Linux embedded device server has been launched, which will easily allow ethernet connectivity to be added.

The Digi Connect ME 9210 is about the size of a pair of dice and supports the 2.6.26 version of the Linux kernel.

It has been designed to allow original equipment manufacturers to add ethernet connectivity where space is a restriction.

Chief technical officer and senior vice president of research and development at Digi International Joel Young claims Linux development in small devices will be aided by the advance.

"We support development and enhancement in Digi Embedded Linux to ensure our modules and microprocessors are fully integrated into Linux," he states.

Alongside 10 gigabit and 100 gigabit ethernet interfaces, the device offers serial, SPI, CAN and flexible interface modules.
